Detailed Report

June 3rd, 2010

Today's trip was a 3/4 day shark trip. It was our first trip of the season and everything went well. We departed Mission Bay by 7:00am and traveled a little over an hour to the fishing grounds. The conditions weren't bad with 65 degree fairly clean blue water and a spread out 2 to 3 foot swell with 10 knots or less of wind. The sky was overcast throughout the day. The fishing started off slow as it took us nearly 2 hours to catch our first fish. It was a small blue shark(about 25-30 lbs) which put up a good fight on 30 lb test. Then things started to improve. Over the next few hours we caught 2 more blue sharks and 3 mako sharks. The largest mako shark weighed in at 80 lbs and was big enough to keep for the bbq. The rest of the fish were released.
